LATEST INFORMATION
(Last Updated: 23rd April 2008

In 2008 we will be opening from early April until late October.  The early season is our favourite time of the year - everything is bright and fresh, generally the weather is beautiful and shows off the honey coloured stone, and the tourist sites are quieter.  We are now OFFERING A 15% DISCOUNT ON THE REMAINING WEEKS IN MAY AND JUNE.  So, do inquire now and we will send a leaflet , by email attachment, showing Top Attractions in the area.  If you have not visited the Dordogne before then you probably have no idea of what a magnificent, historic and beautiful area it is - we feel sure that when you stay in one of our cottages then you will wish to return, both for the Dordogne beauty but also for the quality of accommodation.

REMAINING AVAILABILITY: We can probably accommodate most requests for May - if the cottage you want is not available then we will probably offer an alternative.  For June we have La Boulangerie (2 people) available for the weeks beginning 31st May and 21st June.  Then we have general availability for weeks beginning 30th Aug and 6th Sept and then from 27th Sept onwards.

2008 will be our is our 10th busy season;  this is mostly due to the large number of returning customers with whom we have established a great reputation. This obviously makes us feel good!  Yes, the view is fantastic and everyone enthuses about it on arrival, but we also work really hard at presenting the cottages in a spotless and welcoming manner so that so many customers want to return.  We want you to feel comfortable and at ease in your holiday home and to have a memorable Dordogne holiday.

If you come during July, Aug and early Sept then you will be able to take advantage of the many evening food markets - take your own bottle of wine, and buy freshly cooked international food from a variety of market traders and then sit at trestle tables in the market square listening to live music and enjoying your meal,  - a great alternative to the many traditional restaurants in the area, especiall if you have children with you.

Of course, everyone takes a canoe or a more sedate gabare on the River Dordogne.  Increasing sporty activities in 2006 and 2007 were the use of the 18 hole golf course 4 miles away, and walking some of the numerous well marked tracks in the area, from 5 to 25 km.  Most customers, young and elderly, have followed the 90 minute walk from La Boissiere, written out by Julie;  a more strenuous 150 minute walk in another direction is also available; and many have then been inspired to follow other walks from the walking information pack which we place in each cottage.  This area seems to be turning into a real haven for walkers and the local communes spend much money maintaining the tracks.

And finally for now - some comments from visitors which you will find in the visitors books if you come:

K and M from California who stayed in La Boulangerie: 'Staying at La Boissiere has certainly been a highlight in our 3 month Europe trip.  We are now off to Spain, but we will miss the beautiful Dordogne and Vezere valleys.  The sights are of course amazing (valley views), the food fantastic, and the people very friendly.  The human history is mind boggling and we would highly recommend Lascaux caves even though it is a reproduction.  The chateaux are also incredible.  Many thanks to Julie and Brian! We hope to come back someday.'

J and D from USA who stayed in La Boulangerie: 'We first visited France in 1956, the Dordogne in 1971, La Boissiere / La Boulangerie in 2002.  Because new horizons constantly beckon, we rarely return to the same place - but La Boulangerie has been an exception.  Thanks Brian and Julie! This time we found a new way to see cave paintings, the electric train at Grotte de Rouffignac (Lascaux is a technological triumph but its not the real thing).  And if you're willing to blow your bankroll on the best food Perigord has to offer then make a reservation at La Centenaire in Les Eyzies - but when the bill comes don't say we did not warn you!  Enjoy the Dordogne -  as we have.'

S and P and children from UK who stayed in La Grangette   - 'A wonderful relaxing week here.  The view is stunning - you would never tire of it.  One could sit for hours just soaking it up, which is largely what we did!  A castle, a boat trip and daily swimming rounded off a great holiday.  Thank you.'

M and C and son from UK who stayed in La Maison Perigordine: 'What an idyllic place to spend our honeymoon;  stunning views and countryside.  Highlights include evening market at Belves (great atmosphere), river tar at Roque Gageac, and quietly lounging by the pool!  One week is just not long enough.  Hope to come back when L is older.  Thanks again to Julie and Brian.'

S and M from Australia who stayed in La Maison Perigordine:  'We've enjoyed our sojourn at La Maison Perigordine and wish we could stay longer overlooking the patchwork fields.  Sarlat is a highlight and lunch at 'Guele et Gesier' was fantastic up in the artists quarter.  Domme is a must and the Grottes were made special by Olivier our guide.  Thank you to Julie and Brian - spectacular hosts!'
